Free Agent Frenzy!!

Where to begin?

Well, let's start with the two biggest FAs: Zach Parise and Ryan Suter.

Parise and Suter are definitely the best players to get in this years Free Agency, but I'm not quite sure if I think they are worth the obnoxious bonuses they want. The fact that Parise could make up to $20 mil this year and next and Suter wants to make $25 mil is just too much in my opinion. And that hurts because as a Red Wing girl, I wanted both these players on my team, but I am not a fan of just giving away cap space, especially to the tune of $12 mil or over.

Best 3 signings at the end of 7/1/2012:

Jason Garrison to Vancouver for a 6-year, 4.6 mil AAV

Garrison seems to be coming into his own right now, 28 is a good age for a defenseman to show his true worth. Though Garrison hasn't really come out with such a bang as he did in the 2011-2012, I feel he will flourish on the Canucks. He has an amazing shot and I feel he will be a great offensive force from the blue line.

Bryan Allen to Anaheim for a 3-year, 3.5 mil AAV

Allen was pretty much the best stay-at-home defenseman of the Free Agency and Anaheim got a really good deal with him. They needed help on the blue line and Allen with definitely give them that. Allen can soak up some good ice-time and help the Ducks with keeping goals out of the net and he's only 31 and has a lot of good years ahead of him.

Joe Corvo to Carolina for a 1-year, 2 mil contract

This is good for Corvo and Carolina. Corvo brings that offensive flare on the blue line and veteran experience, not to mention familiarity in the Canes dressing room. Corvo had a great season year before last with Carolina and being the fact that they are upping their roster with some good signings as of late (notably Jordan Staal), I see this year being even better for him.

Ray Whitney to Dallas for a a 2-year, 4.5 mil AAV

Who cares is Whitney is 40, like a fine whine, he is just getting better with age. Putting up 77 points for the 'Yotes last year, Whitney will bring scoring prowess to the Stars and leadership. He'll help some of their younger players. The Wizard will bring fun and points to the Stars.

PA Parenteau to Colorado for a 4-year, 4 mil AAV

PA is a player with talent, he's been coming into his own with the Islanders and the young core of the Avs will be a good place for him. Adding PA will help them, I mean come on he put up 67 points with the Islanders. This signing was one of my favorites of the day, all he has is time to grow and I think the Avs will give him a chance to do just that.

Jordin Tootoo to Detroit for a 3-year, 1.9 mil AAV

Tootoo bring just what the D has been needing: roughness, grit and energy. On a team that, let's face it, has been a little lackluster in the grit department, Tootoo will be a good addition. The agitator also put up 30 points last season and that isn't too bad at all.

SCF: Game 3

Yum! It's like a hockey flavored explosion rocked my body! Boston massacring Vancouver just tasted so good. My feelings are so intense because of the biting, the outrageous chances Vancouver was given in this game, and the loss of Horton before a goal was even scored. Yet Boston still amazed the hockey world with a triumphant 8-1 victory. Timmy Thom came and rocked the house! The victory, on my end at least, is rather short lived. It leads to a big question mark in Game 4. Horton is out, Vancouver will be trying to murder and huge wins do not often equal overall success. I hope they can pull this off and tie up this series. At least for Mark Recchi = )

Stanely Cup Finals!!

Oh yes! We are finally here. Actually, we've been here. I've just been slacking. First and foremost, I am a Boston fan in this series. Original six team! Timmy Thom from my home state! What's not to love......them not winning! I'm rather disappointed in the league for the dismissal of the OBVIOUS bite of P Bergeron's finger. Alexandre Burrows (who I will admit I love) definitely bit that finger. I am immensely disappointed that this occurred because of my love of Burrows and the fact that the league seems to be favoring players/teams in my opinion as of late. Examples.....the Pacioretty hit by Chara (forgive misspelling please). Any hit that causes severe medical injury should in my opinion result in suspension, especially one such as Pacioretty's. Consider the severe suspension of Matt Cooke, whose hit didn't even result in that much of a severe medical condition. As always, my opinion...sorry if you disagree =).

Playoff Hockey.....Fuck Yeah!

I've definitely been slacking, but it's hard to continue this blog, as I've been a quitter most of my life. I am adamant to sustain though. Now, on to the hockey. Let us begin in the West.

Ohh, what I've so been waiting for.......

Vancoocoo(1) against the Hawks(8). I'm hoping the Vans can pull the win, but we must all be reminded of the absolute domination of the Hawks. The Hawks do gel well and Toews and Sharp are undeniably sexy as well as skilled. Don't ever discount the twin power of the Sedins, or Kesler or Luongo. I am going bold and predicting the Hawks in 7. Again, a bold statement, regardless, this matching makes me wet.

Sharks(2) versus Kings(7). All I have to say is....the poor Kings. I predict a five or six game series with the Sharks killing 'em.

Detroit(3) against the Coyotes(6)......I am generally pleased with this happening, because I firmly believe.....(if Detroit actually

Hi......again

After not posting for about 9 months....I'm back. I'm watching Rules of Attraction. It is definitely making me realize how lonely I am. So did finding out George from Top Shot has a girlfriend. How absolutely sad, I am attracted to TV personalities. Although, to be Oprah has always been my dreams. But enough of my lameness, let's get on to what matters....

HOCKEY...Let's talk the big game first, the only one I watched......Chicago VS San Jose. A game especially important to me because of my utter disdain for San Jose. (Interestingly enough, I find sharks to be beautiful creatures.)Honestly though, fuck San Jose. I won't lie, Niemi is a very good goalie, they have good offense (Heatley, Thornton, Pavelski) but they just don't touch my heart in the way some other teams have this season. Though I haven't been posting.....here are my Stanley Cup Favs (other then Detroit and Pittsburgh...though I love them, I do not believe they are ready.
Let us begin with the East...
Division Champs
1. Atlantic - I support the Flyers in this endeavor, I believe they will continue to dominate the Eastern Conference completely. They are my Eastern favorite for the Cup.
2. Northeast - I'm going for Boston, though I have a strong affliction for Montreal. Boston has really been trying this season and they desperately need to prove to fans they can do it #09-10 season.
3. Southeast - My hopes are deeply on Tampa Bay. I clearly hate the Capitals (well, if you knew me, you'd know I do.) I also have a slight (relatively large) disdain for TB, because Stevie Y is Tampa's GM. But overall, I enjoy Tampa's game play and superstars over the Craps any day.

Now, let's get on with the West!
1. Northwest - Vancouver, the leading team in the league. Fantastic overall, no doubt. Though strangely, just realizing, I don't pay any attention to their defense. I'd always rather a Western team win, especially with a MI boy (Ryan Kesler, even though he's a lame #attendedOSU).
2. Central - DETROIT! We BETTER maintain this spot. Detroit's play scares me, they lack the heart to remain in this spot or even in the playoffs. The Hawks and Sharks are vying though.
3. Truthfully, I wanted Phoenix in this spot, with the they are facng with ownership, they are a great team with admiral leadership #ShaneDoan.) Truth be told, I believe the yucky Sharks of San Jose will prevail.

Well, only hockey tonight....<3

Stanely Cup Finals: Game 5

It's game day! At 8 pm tonight, the Chicago Blackhawks will be trying to get another win over the Philadelphia Flyers. Who will prevail? Although I'm pushing for the Flyers (yes, as a die-hard Pens fan I am saying this), I'm going to say Chicago will take this one. After losing their 2-0 lead over the last to games and their top lines and players going scoreless, they'll have a fire under them tonight. Along with a VERY loud home crowd.

To win this one Chicago will need to focus, not give turnovers and stay out of the box. They have been outshooting the Flyers, but if you've been watching this playoff season, that really doesn't seem to matter. The Habs were outshot almost every game and still made it to Round 3, over the president's trophy winners and the defending Stanely Cup champs. Bigg Buff will also need to show up in this game, as he's been slagging in the last two. I'm going to predict big things for the Hawks in this game. They have to feel the need to win this one, they'll need to match the Flyer's desperation. If they can do this, they'll win.

But, this year seems to be the year of Cinderella stories, so don't count the Flyers out just yet. Haven't you heard, this is God's team. Especially with players like Leino and Pronger, and the cap Mike Richards, showing up in big ways. Pronger, ever the antagonist, on and off the ice, is using his imposing physicality as well as his wits. He is definitely one to watch out for. Leino has been stunning this series, but too much focus on him has helped the Flyers score more. It will be a tough one for the Flyers, but if they can hold their game together and come out strong, they could win this.

The team that wins this game, gets the 3-2 lead over the other team. In history, more often than not, the team that wins game 5, wins the series. Although this isn't always so (again, those damn Habs), it usually is. So time will tell, see you at game time!
